Candace Podany died Tuesday, March 3rd 2026 at UNMC in Omaha, NE.

Candace Kay Podany, daughter of George and Sandra (Henrickson) Mandl, was born November 24th, 1964. Candace was the second born child of four and first born daughter to George and Sandra. Candace graduated from Stanton High School. She attended college at Northeast Community College.

Candace grew up in Stanton, NE where she attended school and made many friends along the way. Her best friend of 47 years, Lynn Roenfeldt, remembers her as hard working, fun loving, and kind. Lynn talked a lot about how she really worked for what she wanted in life. Shortly after graduating high school, Candace moved to Norfolk, NE where she later met her husband through a blind date.

On March 28th, 1992, she was united in marriage to Craig S. Podany at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk, NE. They were blessed with two daughters, Caitlin and Hailey. She was a loving wife to her husband, Craig. He remembers her for her pretty smile, laugh, and her sense of humor. The family remembers her for her cooking, baking, and hosting holidaget-togethers. She was also an amazing mother to her two daughters. Her daughters remember her for her strong sense of self, her determination, and how she would bring warmth and kindness to any room she entered.

Candace enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Some of her best memories are trips to Omaha whether it was with her husband and children or with her sister, niece, and daughters. She worked hard for everything she had and did everything she could to provide for not only her family, but for all she cared about. She was a lover of animals- especially cats or in her words "kittens" Her younger sister, Tricia, shared memories of Candace sneaking baby farm cats into her room when she was a kid.
