David L. Comstock, age 68 of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on September 28th, 2025 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a lengthy battle with cancer. David was born on December 31st, 1956 to Geary "LeRoy" Comstock and Sharon (Roberts) Comstock. He was the oldest of 5 children. He grew up near Schleswig, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1975.
After high school, David relocated to Denver, Colorado and lived there for most of his adult life. He started a business installing tile, and later on became an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed seeing the country and meeting many different people out on the road over the years. Later in life he returned to Iowa to be closer to family and worked at Midwest Industries in Ida Grove until his retirement.
David enjoyed fishing, bowling, trying new recipes on the grill, and especially loved watching the Denver Broncos play football. In his younger days, he participated in the wild west reenactment shows in Central City with the Colorado Stuntmen's Association, which sparked a life long love of western and Native American heritage. David is survived by his daughter Amanda Holdaway and her husband Brett of Commerce City, CO; his Mother Sharon Comstock of Manning, IA; Sisters Christina Schmidt-Caton (Bill) of Carroll, IA and Renee Comstock of Spirit Lake, IA; Brothers Jim Comstock (Barb) of Moulton, IA and Michael Comstock of Waukee, IA; three nieces, one nephew, two great nephews, several cousins and friends.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date in Colorado. Condolences can be sent to Sharon Comstock at Manning Senior Living, Manning, IA.
