Omaha

Karen Lee Curtis, age 73, passed away on December 1, 2025, surrounded by love. She was born on January 10, 1952, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Patsy Dugan and Clayton Wogstad. She later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she built a life centered on family, service, and compassion.

Karen was a devoted wife to Teddy Curtis and a loving mother to her three daughters, Melissa (Chris) Lyman, Tina (Ken) Bennett, and Kelly Curtis. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to her many great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.

After becoming a quadriplegic 48 years ago as the result of a drunk driver, Karen refused to let tragedy define her. She turned her experience into purpose, dedicating much of her life to volunteering and advocating for people with disabilities. She helped countless individuals find resources and home accommodations, offering hope, compassion, and encouragement to all she served.

Karen was an avid NASCAR fan and found joy in cheering on her favorite drivers. She cherished family gatherings, laughter, and time spent with those she loved most.

A Celebration of Life honoring Karen will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Bennington Library in Bennington, Nebraska. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Karen will be remembered for her resilience, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed and forever held in our hearts.
