Lawrence Charles Holtzen

Larry embraced life with enthusiasm and a passion for learning. He was happiest when surrounded by the things he loved-motorsports, music, technology, and the people and pets that meant the most to him.

Larry had an extraordinary knowledge of audio and electronics. He understood every aspect of building the perfect sound system, from selecting speakers, amplifiers, and subwoofers to knowing exactly where each component should be placed for the best listening experience. His expertise led him to compete in car stereo competitions in Sioux City, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska. Whether designing a home theater or upgrading a vehicle's sound system, Larry always pursued excellence.

A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, Larry enjoyed NASCAR, Grand Prix racing, riding his motorcycles, taking his Jeep off-road on four-wheeling adventures with his son, and taking his Mustang Shelby GT350 out for a spin. He enjoyed his racing simulator, where his competitive spirit and love of racing came together. He also enjoyed archery, golf, and target shooting.

His talents extended beyond electronics. Larry built computers, enjoyed woodworking, and loved working on cars and motorcycles. If something could be improved, repaired, or customized, he was eager to tackle the challenge. He also enjoyed cooking and took pride in preparing meals for family and friends, especially for the holidays.

Larry built a successful career doing what he enjoyed most. He began in sales with Custom Electronics before continuing his career in sales and sales management with Midwest Power Sports and a Harley Davidson dealership. He later served as Finance Manager at a Mercedes-Benz dealership, retiring at the age of 60.

Few things brought Larry as much happiness as his dogs. Throughout his life he shared a special bond with several beloved bulldogs, and in recent years "Roxie" and "Louie", along with his Yorkie, "Elvis" were treasured members of his family.

More than his accomplishments, Larry will be remembered for his knowledge, his willingness to help others, his love of machines and music, his devotion to his pets, and the enthusiasm he brought to the things he loved. His memory will continue to live on in the lives he touched and in the many passions he shared with family and friends.

Larry is survived by his son, Connor Holtzen of Omaha, NE; grandson, Roman Holtzen of Omaha, NE; mother, Carole Broyhill of Sioux City, IA; sister, Terri (Larry) Holtzen Murdock of Blue Springs, MO; brother, Dwayne Holtzen of Northglenn, CO; half brothers, Carroll Holtzen, Rodney Holtzen; half sisters, Ruth Holtzen Smith, Darla Holtzen; step brothers, Duane Broyhill, Raymond Broyhill and Kevin Broyhill and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, Armand Holtzen of Sioux City, IA; step mother, Carole Holtzen; step father, Lawrence Broyhill; maternal, grandparents, Henry and Katherine Baldes; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Ruth Holtzen; half brother, Matthew Holtzen and step sister, Debra Broyhill.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date for Larry.
