Lisa Marie Scow

Lisa Marie (VanWashenova) Scow, of Silvercreek, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family, September 2nd, 2026 at UNMC in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lisa VanWashenova was born in Monroe, Michigan on December 14th, 1966, to Leroy and Catherine VanWashenova. Lisa grew up on a working farm in Newport, Michigan where her love for animals blossomed. She spent time running around barefoot, fishing at the creek, hanging out with the neighborhood kids, and helping on the farm. In a neighborhood of four houses and 17 children, ages ranging from 8 to 18, as fate should have it Lisa met Shawn Rogers. After being friends for a few years, they started dating and had their first son, Shawn Rogers II, in 1985. Lisa also graduated from airport High School in 1985 and then went to cosmetology school. They were married August 24th, 1985. Shortly after they had two more children. Cecelia Rogers was born in 1986 and Leroy Rogers was born in 1989.

They then moved to Nebraska in 1992. They found an acreage where Lisa's love for animals exploded into a small farm of 20 cats, 20 dogs, four horses, a bird and a hedgehog. These would not be the only animals she had and not to mention all the stray and wild animals she helped nurse back to health, find homes for or release back into the wild.

Lisa had many jobs from being a stay-at-home mom, to bartending, working at a feedlot taking care of cattle, a hog confinement breeding and processing piglets, and finally a school cafeteria worker. While working at the feedlot she met the love of her life Robert (Bob) Scow. They married June 25th, 2005 in Stromburg Nebraska and had many great years together. Shortly after they moved to Silver Creek Nebraska where they enjoyed watching crime shows being with their grandchildren and just existing together. The love they shared was a special kind of love. They were together until Bob's death April 6th 2020.

After losing Bob she resided in their home until she met Tony Edic of Silvercreek in 2022. Lisa and Tony lived together on an acreage with many pets and wild animals until her death. Lisa and Tony enjoyed fishing, fish fries, and many other outdoor adventures.

Lisa is survived by her boyfriend Tony Edic. Her siblings Charley (Jayne) VanWashenova, Marilyn Imo, Larry VanWashenova. Her children Shawn (Kate Huenink) Rogers II, Cecelia (Joey McDonald) Rogers, Leroy (Morgan) Rogers. Her grandchildren Lydia, Serenity, Taylor, Kiedis, Norah, and Olive. Her step children Kim Scow (Terry) Zollman, Nicci Scow, and Kris (Jim) Stanek. Her step grand children Jeni, Sarah, Mikayla, Connor, Kaytlin, Maren, Nolan

Lisa was preceded in death by her husband Robert Scow, her parents Leroy and Catherine VanWashenova, her siblings Ed VanWashenova, Dale VanWashenova, and Kathleen (Art) Dicks, and her step son Ed (Andrea) Scow.
