Marlin Carl Quaring, age 77, of Cairo, Nebraska, passed away on November 29, 2025, surrounded by his family in Omaha, Nebraska.

Marlin was born on October 9, 1948, in Grand Island to the late Leo and Myrtle Quaring. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1966. After graduation, he worked on the family farm and at the Ordnance Plant in Grand Island until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1969. Marlin served two years in Germany and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter M-14 Badge.

Following his honorable discharge in 1971, Marlin returned to Cairo and began working for Sperry New Holland (now Case New Holland) in Grand Island, where he became a skilled welder. He retired after 25 years of dedicated service in 1996.

On July 5, 1972, Marlin married Lucille Katherine Podany of Butte, Nebraska. He was a loving and devoted husband, serving as Lucy's caretaker for 22 years until her passing in 2015. Together, they raised two children, Michelle and Scott. Marlin was an amazing father who will be deeply missed.

He will be remembered for his incredible memory, quick wit, sense of humor, and the deep love he had for his family. Marlin enjoyed reading, working on crosswords, watching animal videos, spending time with family and friends, and finding peace on the farm-his happy place.

Marlin was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle Quaring of Omaha, Nebraska, and his son, Scott Quaring of Lincoln, Nebraska.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring at his beloved farm. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date. To be added to the notification list, please email mqdezigns@hotmail.com.
