Meagan Anne
Isom
October 3, 1987 – May 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness, and in loving memory of Meagan Anne Isom, that we announce her quiet passing on May 8, 2026. Meagan passed away in her sleep at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, surrounded by her family. Her life was cut short by cancer and associated complications.
Born October 3, 1987, in La Mesa, California, Meagan joined her brother Michael as the second of four children born to Kimberly A. (Isom) Barrett and Roy H. Barrett II. As part of a United States Marine Corps family, Meagan's life was a grand adventure that took her across the globe. Her journey included time at Camp Pendleton, CA; Marine Corps Air Stations Cherry Point, NC; Yuma, AZ; Miramar, CA; a second turn in Yuma; and Iwakuni, Japan. She finally landed in San Jacinto, California, where she graduated from San Jacinto High School.
Along the way, Meagan made many, many friends whom she cherished and adored. She was vibrant, fun-loving, and truly loyal. She was passionate and driven-a true force to be reckoned with should you cross her-yet she was eminently capable of forgiveness. She gave selflessly of herself to those in need, always putting others first. Reflecting her drive and caring heart, she successfully attained her certification as a CNA in Nebraska during her final months.
Meagan is preceded in death by her grandparents: Peggy Thoms, Dan Buxton, Freida Buxton, and Herb Thoms. She is survived by her children, Jeremiah Phillips and Lillee-Anne Phillips; and her brothers, Michael Isom, Douglas Barrett, and Kodey Barrett. She is also survived by her mother, Kimberly Barrett, and her dad, Roy Barrett. She leaves behind her grandparents, Bob Isom and Pam Isom; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces; and a cast of friends she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her beloved bearded dragon, Luna-Blaze. Her heart belonged to Joel Jones until her very last day.
Meagan will forever reside in our hearts and minds, walking beside us always. A celebration of life will be held at a later date (TBD). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to her GiveSendGo campaign to support her children at: https://www.givesendgo.com/honoring-meagan-together
