Rachel Marie Flanary

February 7, 1997 — October 17, 2025

Omaha

Rachel Marie Flanary, 28, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, October 17, 2025, at her home in Omaha, NE, after prolonged chronic illnesses.

Rachel was born on February 7, 1997, in Reno, NV. Initially, she was raised in Sparks, NV, and then, in 2003, her family relocated to Lakewood/Morrison, CO. She graduated from Jeffco Virtual Academy High School in 2015. As an adult, in 2019, Rachel relocated with a friend to Omaha, NE, and has lived independently with her service dog, Olivia, since 2020 and later added her two cats. Rachel loved receiving cards of encouragement from others and enjoyed spreading love and joy to others in need by creating and handing out holiday, encouragement, or thank-you cards to her friends, both in person and online, and to others in the community. She had a passion for providing online education to others about her chronic conditions, disability rights, and service dog training. She put her heart and soul into caring for the loves of her life: Olivia, her service dog poodle; Riley, her cat; and Luca, her cat who passed away earlier this year.

Our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Rachel is survived by her parents, Elizabeth Flanary and Floyd Flanary; her sister, Paige Flanary, 31; her brother, Ryan Flanary, 18; and her nephew, Warren Shellhorn, 1, who reside in Lakewood/Littleton, CO. Rachel will be missed by her family, friends, and beloved dog and cat; and we find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering with the ailments of her body and is now at peace with our Almighty God's eternal love.

There will be a simple Celebration of Life near her home to be announced to close friends, and her final internment will be at Golden Cemetery, Golden, CO. For sweet memories of Rachel, please feel free to view her Instagram: Poodleprovinghope.
