Shirley Lee Myers

Shirley Lee Myers, 86, a lifelong resident of Griswold, Iowa, passed away October 6, 2026, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Born April 14, 1940, to Forrest and Beulah (Hemphill) Slocum, she grew up on the family farm in Wright Township, north of Griswold, and graduated from Griswold High School.

Hard work and caring for others defined much of her life. She worked as a certified nursing assistant and gave generously of her time and energy to her family, including raising her grandson, Dean.

She loved animals and enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years. Spending time at the Fish Farm north of Griswold and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Kansas City Chiefs were among her favorite pastimes.

She is survived by her son, Randy Myers of Atlantic; her granddaughters, Brianna and Nikki Myers of Omaha; her grandson, Dean Myers and his wife, Jalanna, of Portland, Oregon; and her great-grandson, Makai Myers of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Beulah Slocum, and her sister, Dolores Thayer.

A private family remembrance will be held. She will be laid to rest beside her parents at Griswold Cemetery.
